Whenever I arrived home from school, my elder sibling who was a soon to be mom was always in her room making some drawings on the board using different chalk color. On realizing she was greatly inspired by the picture where Mary Poppins and Bert got served by the gorgeous penguin servers in her miraculous chalk drawing land. I planned to throw a chalk themed party for her baby shower.
The card invitations reflected a blue and red color and on it was a picture of Mary and Bert I downloaded from my computer and pasted it on the front page. On the inside of the card, I drew green scenery filled with different chalk colors.
On the last page drew a group of beautiful sleeping penguins and wordings which stated “welcome to the magical chalk land”
The décor started from the entrance of the venue with a banner with penguin pictures. On entering was a welcome sticker handed to the guests after they signed the guests’ book and leaving some comments. After the signing activity was a small short kid who was dressed in penguin attires who led the guests to their table. Every kid was also given a singing penguin on arrival.
Balloons were hanged in blue and red color all the way to the party room. On the table was beautifully spread red and white table clothes .to stick to our theme each table contained a box of chalk kept beside the flower vase filled with red and white roses. Additionally on the table lay a toy penguin that contained batteries and from it guests could here some sweet song.
Food and drinks
Some of the drinks served included orange juice, apple juice and a variety of sodas. The older guests were free to prepare some fresh lemonade best suited for them. We also provided a stand where chocolate; ripple and strawberry ice cream was served. A variety of milk shake flavors was also served to guests.
On the snacks table, were candy bars shaped like chalks with different names labeled on them. Sandwiches in chalk shape, cookies and sausages were also provided.
Games and activities
Some of the activities included both kids and their younger friends. A timer was set and each kid was instructed to draw their parents face accurately. The best kid who drew a closer picture to that of her parent was handed a box of chocolate with a collection of Poppins and Bert stories. Some other activities included face painting; another interesting activity at the party that the kids enjoyed was the chalk basin pool. It was a pool with a mixture of water and paint. There was a small rope tied across the chalk pool and every guest had to hold on to the rope to reach to the other side. Most of the young guests fell into the pool while the one who managed to pass was gifted with mineral water and a towel.
The guests left happily with all smiles after receiving a pack of candy sticks accompanied with water bottles.
