I love movies! I love flashing lights, cameras, gold and red colors. So it was pretty obvious for me what theme would be – sparkling and dazzling Hollywood!
A grand party must begin with a grand invitation. I personally designed unique cards for each and every guest that I invited to the party. I wasn’t worried by the gate-crashers that could come while designing the invitation cards; my main concern that I didn’t want any two invitation cards to resemble each other. I also ensured that the floral arrangement on each envelope that carried the invitation to the invited members spoke eloquently of the grandiose nature of my party.
As part of the decoration I decided to go all natural because I felt that the party was mine and it had to reflect what I thought it should represent. I had a good arrangement of umpteen types and colors of flowers that lined up the path to the main staircase of the room where the main event was to be held. Don't ask me how I managed to pull a move that enabled me get a red carpet for the path to the staircase, but I sure did it and it played a crucial role insofar as the decorations were concerned.
Food and drinks
Initially I thought it might not work out well, but after considering a number of factors I decided to look for food and drinks that were unique in that they weren’t the party meals that people have come to expect in birthday parties. I’ve ordered some traditional stuff like pop-corn, sodas in stripped cups and a variety of sandwiches. My specialty was a huge Oscar cake made by my Mom’s friend who’s a fantastic baker.
Games and activities
This was a tricky affair to settle on because of the reason that I didn’t want to give the impression that I was still a childish chap-remember I was turning 16 and the ‘adultness’ that many people associate with that age. On the other hand I didn’t want the umpteen cheeky friends that I have to go back home sulking. I thus decided to create an awesome music list and decided to set the dance floor on fire. As well, I’ve decorated a Hollywood photo booth with top start cut-outs, lights and glitter, so that all my friends could feel like on Red carpet for a moment.
I did realize a while back that the color code is something that matters so much as it is what lingers most in the minds of the party attendees. It is for that reason that as a party favor I sang a song while dressed in red from top to bottom. I also gave everyone a copy of the DVD I had especially prepared for them. It was a DVD compilation of the entire party, bar, the games and other activities.
