I was recently asked to arrange plants vs. zombies party for my seven year old nephew. His parents have been pretty busy at work and did not want him to miss out on a party.I had to search for kids party ideas on the internet in order to get the latest birthday themes for kids. Knowing how much my nephew loved playing zombie games, plants vs. zombies party was the best party to arrange. I planned to invite all his friends over for the party so I asked them for help since they were more conversant with the concept of zombie games. We set out to work on the preparations in order to get all the materials and items required for the party.
The invitations were pretty sleek. I went for green cards which were printed out with pictures of zombies with bloodshot eyes bulging out. I also included decorations of sunflower heads on the side and used some red food coloring to bring out the illusion of blood. I then printed out the words ‘Fancy some brain?’ on the front side of the cards and also included the party details at the back of the cards.
For the decorations, I went for posters of zombies chasing after people and hang them around the house. I also changed the lighting bulbs in the house so as to set the mood for the party. I also incorporated some pea-shooter plants in the yard and placed several zombie figurines at different locations in the house and backyard. The table cloths had green and white colors and I also placed some ‘tombstones’ and ‘caskets’ out in the yard. I used carton paper to construct the caskets and tombstones.
Food and Drinks
For the food, I went with burgers and plenty of fruit. There were watermelons, avocado and grapes. The cake was decorated with green coloring and had the icing in form of a zombie. The drinks were made with milk so as to resemble brains and I also included some avocado smoothies to go around. I also made some lime and raspberry juice.
Activities and Games
I thought long and hard about the games that would be played by the kids and finally decided on the pea-shooter game. The kids were supposed to use some balls which they would throw into planters that had been placed at a distance. The kids also enjoyed playing the zombie tag game whereby one kid started out as the zombie and tried to turn the other kids as well. When one was ‘turned’, they had to turn the others until one kid was left unturned and thereby won the game.
For the party favors, I used some boxes that resembled some caskets where I packed candy and cupcakes for the guests. The candy was shaped as zombie eyes whereas the cupcakes resembled planters. The guests had a lot of fun and my nephew was very satisfied with the party.
