Do you have a baby shower, a child’s birthday or any other colorful celebration going on? You could try out some kids party ideas. I collected during the birthday of my friend’s baby girl.
The invitations were cut out from a yellow cardstock in the shape of a bumble bee and stripes, face and other colorful features were drawn with a black crayon. The bees were creatively colored by the birthday girl with a little help from her mother. The details of the party were written on the flipside of the card. The cards can also be substituted with a postcard having a picture of your child in a bee costume, note cards of yellow and black colors, a honey bottle with party details written on the label or bumble bee coloring pages.
Picking out birthday themes for kids can be taxing but with a bumble bee party, black and yellow is the way to go. The colour scheme was black and yellow, and the party table was covered in a black and yellow table cloth. In addition to that, the plates, napkins and other utensils were either yellow or black in colour. Yellow and black streamers and balloons were also hanged on the wall. On one side of the wall was a banner with the words “Hap-Bee Birthday” colorfully written in black and yellow. In place of the banner, sometimes a beehive centre piece is used. Black and yellow balloons were also filled with helium, tied with long yellow and black ribbons where a bee cutout was tied to the end of each length and the balloons were left to fly to the ceiling.
Food and Drinks
The kids really enjoyed the food and drinks served at the party. Honey sandwiches and peanut butter platters were served to the kinds. In addition to this, there were busy beehive cupcakes, licorice sticks, beehive cake, honey bee cookies served alongside some tasty lemonade.
Games and Activities
The kids at the party really had fun playing Pin the Wings on the bee and the stinging bumble bee which is more like the hot potato. The kids sat in a circle and as some music played, they passed the bee which was made from cardstock around. When music stopped, the kid holding the bee would be “stung” therefore getting out of the game. This continued until only one kid remained. The kids also enjoyed making bumble bee antennae headbands, egg carton bumble bees and watching the bee movie.
The kids were happy taking home the bumble bee crafts they had made during the party. Moreover, they carried some yellow goodie bags which had been made by the host and filled with a lot of treats. The bags were tied at the top with a yellow ribbon. Each kid also carried home a small jar of honey, hair bows which were in black and yellow colors and black candy which was stuffed in some yellow colored cellophane bags. It was such a fun party, and anyone wishing to host a party should really consider a bumble bee party.
